McMaster Carr 4140/4142 steel - practicalmachinist

Frank DeHaas (designer) stats that 4140 prehard should be used. I orderd 4140/4142 from McMaster. This steel is said to be hardend to C26. It is also rated at 95000psi yeild. DeHaas notes a RC rating of RC 27-30. He also states that if annealed 4140 is used it should be hardend to 25 to 30 rockwell C before machining.
